This week I was thrilled to go and speak about the power of social media and how it has changed marketing strategies and communication tactics around the world with fellow expert and author Teri Thompson for the California Lutheran University School of Management.
“Unleashing the Power of Social Media” was the official event title with more than 130 students, community members and business owners in attendance, many of whom were standing in the over-crowded hall, who came to gather information to better their own marketing efforts or add to their understanding and education about online marketing.
Topics included a wonderful and relevant overview of why social media continues to gain momentum and how it’s shaping our culture, guidelines to follow when sharing content as well as a breakdown of demographics for top sites including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and Pinterest.
Facts about social media and examples of successful marketing efforts were shared and discussions about social media best practices and “rules of engagement” for conversations were also outlined for attendees.
“We’ve heard nothing but positive feedback from those who attended and people were very impressed with the amount of information provided,” shared CLU School of Management special events director Mary Jo Shane, PhD.
This [Re]Connections event has been one of our most successful.-Mary Jo Shane, PhD
My appreciation goes out to all who helped make the event a successful one and to CLU for inviting me to come and share my expertise about social media marketing. Check out the photos from the event on the All Stages Marketing Facebook fan page.

I bet the teaching you’re doing on the subject at Santa Barbara City College has honed your ability to concisely state your bright ideas on social media and online marketing. They were smart to have a speaker like you who lives and breaths work wise, with social media and social media marketing.
The world ignores social media at their peril!
In case anyone reading this isn’t aware of Amber’s All Stages Marketing business, consider yourself informed. I’m a fan!
